Memorial Service for Richard Fyffe at ALA Midwinter

A memorial service has been planned for Richard Fyffe, Samuel R. and Marie-Louise Rosenthal Librarian of Grinnell College, at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in Boston, MA. to follow the ACRL/SPARC forum on Saturday from 4:40-5:30pm in the Convention Center, Room 253 C.  All are welcomed to come and share stories and honor the life and work of this extraordinary man. The Oberlin Group Honors the Passing of Richard Fyffe

Members of the Oberlin Group have had the honor and pleasure of working with Richard Fyffe, Librarian of the College at Grinnell, who recently passed away from ALS.  Given his enormous contributions to collections and scholarly communications, as well as the Oberlin Group itself, the group passed a Resolution Honoring Richard Fyffe at its annual meeting at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. Oberlin Group signs on to COAR Statement Against Elsevier’s Sharing Policy

On May 27, 2015, the Oberlin Group of Libraries was added to the list of signatories of the COAR Statement Against Elsevier’s Sharing Policy.  The Group was the 81st institution to sign on.  In the statement, COAR (the Confederation of Open Access Repositories) calls on Elsevier to reconsider their restrictive new sharing and hosting policy for Elsevier journals articles.  (May 27, 2015)
